What are you goals for your athletic, intellectual and other pursuits?
One annual goal I have is to ride at least the distance across the United States every year, or 3,300 miles. If the year is going well, I usually up that goal to 4,000 miles or more. With five months remaining in 2017, I'm nearing 2,600 miles ridden thus far. Anyway, my long-term goal is to complete the equivalent of a cross-country ride every year well into my retirement years.
A great sense of satisfaction often comes when a goal is achieved, especially when it's a difficult or challenging goal. As Bo Jackson once commented, 'Set your goals high and don't stop till you get there.'
I believe that we as human beings often flounder unless we have goals that inspire us and which give us something to look forward to amidst the daily grind.
My hope for you is that the goals you set will be challenging enough to inspire you and realistic enough to be achieved.
Here is a quote, by American author Tony Robbins, which will hopefully inspire you to begin the process: 'Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.'
