October 15, 2017: SOAP #2873: Nehemiah 13; Malachi 1-2; Acts 4

Scripture:  Malachi (NIV) 2:7 “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction"because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty.

Observation:   As God brings judgment against the unfaithful priests, we read about God's intended purpose for their ministry.   Religious leaders should proclaim and defend truth, not just spiritual truth, but all truth.   People should be able to ask them questions.   They should grow in understanding as they listen to the religious leader talk.   God intends these leaders to speak as His representatives.

Application:   I should value the people God has placed in my life as His representatives.   I should expect to hear wisdom.   I should expect to hear God speaking to me through them.   I should expect God to use them to confirm what He has spoken to my heart.

Prayer:    Heavenly Father, you are a speaker and are faithful to speak to me.   Thank you for the knowledge and wisdom you give through your faithful messengers.  Amen
