November 11, 2017: SOAP #2900:  Psalm 122; 1Corinthians 9-11

Scripture:  Psalm (NIV) 122:1 A song of ascents. Of David. I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”

Observation:   David was listening to what others were saying.   They were not commanding him to go to the house of the Lord.   They were not suggesting that he go.   They did not say, 'I think it would be a good idea for you to go the Lord's house.'

They said, 'Let US go to the house of the Lord.'   They said, 'Come with me.'   'Let's go together.'   'I am going too; come with me.'   'I'll go with you.'   They were saying, 'This is important for you; this is important for me.'

Application:   When my dad came home from France after WWII he went to visit the lady who wrote him letters.   He was told, 'If you go to their house on Sunday, you will have to go to church with them.'   He did.  They did.  God spoke to him.   He got saved.  He married my mom. He went to Bible college.   He became a pastor.   He was the best Christian I have ever met.

Friend are coming to visit, and I think about the places I would like to take them.   "a place of beautiful scenery.   "a historical site.   "a special shopping mall.   "the zoo.   "the botanical garden.   "the football, baseball, or soccer stadium.   But wait!  I am a God-lover!   I will take them to 'the house of the Lord!'   I will take them to where I hear God speak to me!   I will take them to the place I join others in worship!

Prayer:     Lord, what a privilege to go to your house.   If there is any place on earth I would like to take someone, it should be your house.   Amen
