Scripture:  Matthew (NIV) 20:17 Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, 18 “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death 19 and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified.

Observation:   Jesus was speaking to His disciples, preparing them for what is coming.   He knows it will be a difficult time, but He wants them to know that He has everything under control.   He tells them about the betrayal and suffering.   But, for the whole truth, one must read the end of verse 19: 'On the third day he will be raised to life!”

Application:    Too often we only hear the hard part.   The doctor tells me I am dying and what to expect, but he stops before getting to the good part!   For the good part, I must go to the Bible!   Jesus has prepared a place for me in my Father's house! (John 14:2)    Circumstances and the world tells me, 'I am sick,' 'I am weak,' 'I am broke'but that is only half of the truth.   For the whole truth, I must find out what God has to say!

I cannot know the whole truth about anything until I know what God has to say about it!   I must not be satisfied with just part of the truth!   NOTE:   Before it happened, Jesus knew what was ahead.   He knows the same about me.

Prayer:     Holy Spirit, burn your word in my heart.   Let me not forget it.   Then bring it to my memory so I can attach it to the half-truths I hear from the world around me.        Amen
