Scripture:  1Chronicles (NIV) 22:5 David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD should be of great magnificence and fame and splendor in the sight of all the nations. Therefore, I will make preparations for it.” So, David made extensive preparations before his death.
14 “I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them.

Observation:    It was King David's goal to build a temple for the Lord, but God told him that David's son, Solomon should be the one to do the building.   So, what did David do?   He took 'great pains' to make sure Solomon would succeed!   That means David did things that took effort and sacrifice on his part.   It was not always easy or convenient.   He changed his goals, from building the temple, to making sure his son, Solomon, would be able to build it.

Application:    Here is a worthy goal: to make sure the next generation succeeds!   It may require me going out of my comfort zone.

Prayer:      Holy Spirit, guide my life that I may be a blessing to the next generation.   As I have been blessed by those who have gone before me, may those who follow me be blessed by my life.    Amen
