Have you ever received a gift from beyond the grave or maybe just a reminder of a promise once made?
That was my experience this past Monday, Memorial Day, when my wife and I traveled to put flowers on my father's grave.
There, lying next to his tombstone, on the ground was the book: Since Nobody's perfect, How Good is good enough? by Andy Stanley
My dad gave me this book several years ago, when he was in much better in health. He asked me to read it. He told me that it helped him in his spiritual walk. I said that I would read it, one day.
The years passed, and I never did read the book. Last I remember, I put it under my car seat, thinking I'd read it every now and then when I was waiting in a construction zone.
I think I might have read a three or four pages since he gave it to me.
And there was that same book, right beside my father's tombstone, as if to say, 'Here, son.'
So I picked up the book. And this time I will read it.
Maybe there is a passage in there somewhere that will help me in my spiritual journey.
Thanks, dad.
