Scripture:  Revelation (NIV) 15:2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God 3 and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. 4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

Observation:   Having no way to record the music and having no way to put notes on a five-line musical staff, John describes the music the best he can with words.   He tells us who is singing"ones who ended up in victory over the beast.   He tells us of their instruments"harps. And he tells us the words of their song!   The theme of their song is none other than the Lord God Almighty!     They sing of his accomplishments and of his character.

Application:   The book of Revelation shows me that God likes music!   In my heart there rings a melody!  It was sent from heaven above!'   So, as I drive the school bus up and down the dusty roads of Kansas, I can practice my songs for heaven.   I can sing about the works of God that I see all around me.   I can sing of his love and holiness.   I can sing songs I have learned in the past, and even make up songs from my heart.

Prayer:     Heavenly Father, I am glad I do not have to wait until I get to heaven to sing of your love and justice!   You have placed 'a melody in my heart' and you 'keep me singing as I go!'    Amen
