Laurel H. “Dub” Rickard will celebrate his 90th birthday on March 13 at the Leisure Center in Medicine Lodge with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. He requests that in lieu of gifts, donations be made to the local food bank located at the United Methodist Church.
Dub was born three miles east of Zenda, on March 16, 1920 to Charles and Mima Rickard. They moved to Barber County in 1926.
He was married to Mary Jean Hibbard on Nov. 4, 1945. She passed away in January 2003.
After serving in World War II, he was in the drugstore business for 42 years in Medicine Lodge.
Hosting the event will be his children, Georgia and Jon Small of Topeka and Martha and Bill Bogner of Kiowa. Grandchildren include Aaron and Cathy Small, Jenny and Seth Trotter, Barrett and Savannah Bogner and Julie and Jericho Lindeman.
