As Pratt Regional Medical Center says goodbye to general surgeon, Jake Breeding, M.D. they continue to search for his replacement. PRMC is dedicated to providing the area with the healthcare services it needs.
“Finding the right person for the job is top priority,” PRMC President and CEO, Susan Page explained.
In the mean time, if your appendix or gall bladder decides to give you trouble or if your primary care physician decides you may need surgery, don’t worry, you don’t have to leave town.
In order to continue to provide the community with general surgery services, PRMC has turned to coverage from Locum Tenens physicians. As defined by Wikipedia.com, Locum, short for the Latin phrase locum tenens (lit. “place-holder”), is a person who temporarily fulfills the duties of another. For example, a Locum doctor is a doctor who works in the place of the regular doctor when that doctor is absent, or when a hospital/practice is short-staffed. These professionals are still governed by their respective regulatory bodies, despite the transient nature of their positions.
“It is not uncommon at all for hospitals and physician clinics to use Locum Tenens,” Page said. “Dr. Collin Myers is going to share the general surgery coverage for PRMC.”
