Just 2.5 hours of physical activity each week can offer substantial health benefits. While most people know that exercise is important, more than half of Kansans do not reach the minimum goal for physical activity on a regular basis. Walk Kansas is a team-based program designed to help you lead a healthier life by being more active, making better nutrition choices and learning positive ways to deal with stress.
The 8-week program begins with a kick-off event at 2 p.m. March 7 at Lemon Park. Get your team together to walk your first mile together around the park. Walk Kansas runs from March 7 through May 1 and the cost is $5 per participant. Shirts are also available for an additional $6.
The deadline for registration is March 5. For more information and to sign up a team of six, contact the Pratt County Extension office at 672-6121 or visit their website at www.pratt.ksu.edu.
