After two days of competition, Paige Kauffman, a student at Hesston High School, was crowned Miss Kansas’ Outstanding Teen Saturday at Pratt Community College. She receives a $1,000 cash award, as well as a $50 preliminary fitness award, and the right to compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant this August in Orlando, Florida.a

She sang “A Change in Me,” from “Beauty and the Beast” for the talent portion of the pageant. The competition also includes an identical fitness routine from each contestant, appearance in eveningwear combined with an onstage question, and a private interview with judges. She titled her platform, “ Broken Chains, Hope Remains: End Sex Trafficking.”

Runners up were (first through fourth) Hailey Colborn, Wichita, Corinne Brewer, Arkansas City, Alexis Smith, Wichita, and Taylor Clark, St. John.

Twenty-one contestants, including Amber Jellison-Harris and Kahrie Stegman, both form Pratt, competed in the 13th Miss Kansas’ Outstanding Teen Pageant.
