With no time left on the clock and the game tied at 28, senior Noah Myers sent one between the uprights from 37 yards out. The win at Hugoton gave the Pratt High football team their sixth win this season. They will play at home their final two games of the regular season.
The Greenbacks scored on their first possession. Senior Brayan Balderrama would cap off the drive with a seven yard run. Pratt led 7-0 after the PAT by Noah Myers. Pratt scored again in the second, taking a 14-0 lead. Travis Theis finished the drive with a one yard run and Myers booted in the PAT. The Eagles would answer before the end of the quarter. A three play drive ending in a 16 yard touchdown pulled them back within seven. Pratt led 14-7 at the end of the first.
Hunter Kaufman ran in his first touchdown in the second quarter, following a Hugoton turnover. The seven yard run and PAT put the Greenbacks up 21-7. They would pick up their biggest lead of the night after a two yard run by Theis put them up 28-7. The Eagles answered with a long drive, cutting the advantage back down to 14. Pratt went into the break up 28-14.
The Eagles would score next. An 80 yard drive capped off with a two yard run made the score 28-20; Pratt blocked the PAT. The rest of the third quarter was scoreless. Pratt went into the final quarter with a one touchdown advantage. With just 2:27 left in the game, the Eagles were able to convert a 4th and 30, putting them at Pratt's one yard line. They would score with 1:35 left. The conversion was good and Hugoton tied the game at 28. The Greenbacks worked their way to the 37 yard line before time expired. Myers field goal won the game for Pratt 31-28.
The Greenbacks are now 6-1 on the season. They will take on the defending state champs next weekend, hosting undefeated Holcomb. The Eagles best Kingman 28-0 Friday night.
