A unique free eye exam program is available in Pratt. County Director of Public Health Darcie VanDerVyver shared the program information with the Pratt County Commissioners at their July 30 meeting.
The program is "See To Learn" and provides a free comprehensive eye exam to 3-year-olds only. The exam is available at Maydew and Thibault Optometry. Parents need to make an appointment as usual and request the "See To Learn" exam. Again, this is available only for 3-year-olds.
VanDerVyver said their office was very busy with immunizations before the start of school. She reminded the commissioners that the health department doesn't do sports physicals.
The commissioners approved hiring Jan Barry at $400 a month to clean the health department. The staff is very busy and just doesn't have time to take care of the cleaning.
Sheriff Jimmy White said he was close to having everything ready to produce contracts for the plumbing renovation for the jail and basement area of the Law Enforcement Center that were not part of renovation of the dispatch area, intake and kitchen area of the jail.
Dalton Glasscock, field representative/constituent services for 4th District Congressman Ron Estes visited, told the commissioners that Estes plans to make a trip to Pratt later in August to visit with the community.
