Two Pratt men were arrested on drug related charges following a one-vehicle accident where the vehicle broke through barricades and crashed into an open pit where water line repairs were being made.
A pair of Pratt men were arrested Tuesday, Oct. 31 on drug related charges following a one-vehicle accident on Sixth Street at Grove.
Zachery Beltz, 29, was arrested for possession of a stimulant and Matthew Rost, 25, was arrested for distribution of a certain hallucinogenic, according to the Pratt County Sheriff's Office inmate roster.
The accident occurred about 6:20 p.m. when a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Beltz, was west bound on Sixth Street and broke through warning barricades then crashed into an open trench that was the result of the City of Pratt Water Department working at the location during the day. All four sides of the trench were protected by barricades that were equipped with working flashing yellow lights, according to a Pratt Police Department press release.
Beltz and his passenger Rost said they were not injured and both refused treatment from Prat County EMS.
During the accident investigation, officers were able to detect and seize evidence of unlawful drug possession that resulted in the arrest of both men.
Both suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
