PRATT, KS — Richard Allen Parson, 71, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at his home in Pratt. He was born February 15, 1946 in Anthony to Wallace M. and Madline I. (Wells) Parson. On September 24, 1962, he married Elna (Rose) Parson in Reseda, California.
Richard and Elna opened their home to numerous foster children over the years. He worked as a Water Well Driller. He worked at Boeing in 1965 for 2 years, then went to Layne Westen in 1967, got transferred to Garden City to be the head driller. Richard and Lloyd Honomichl started Central Well & Pump in Pratt, Ks. Then started Parson Pump & Well. Then also had salvage yard.
He is survived by his wife, Elna; daughter, Melinda (Steve) Hart of Pratt and Foster daughter, Jade Lewis of Chanute; Foster son, Daniel Seanez of Hutchinson; sisters, Carolyn (Ralph) Rupp of Crossville, Tennessee and Bonnie Smith of Geuda Springs; brother, Albert K. (Belva) Parson of Oxford; grandchildren, Miranda (Tyler) Unruh, Chelsei (Ashlee) McBee, Alex (Cynthia Ibarra) McBee, Auriella McBee, Brooke (Dex) Simonis, Tiffany (Kyle Olstrom) Cook, Richard T. (Kelsie Aston) Parson, Alisha McGuire, Zoe Mitchell, Sara Mitchell, Ashton Lewis and Daniel Seanez, Jr.; and seven great grandchildren and two more on the way.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and sons, Dion Parson and Richard “Rich” Parson.
Cremation has taken place.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Elks Lodge, 1103 W. 5th, Pratt. Inurnment will be at a later date at Forest Hills Cemetery, South Haven, Kansas.
