MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Gregory Franklin DeWeese, 60, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Grand Strand Memorial Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (the beautiful area he loved). Greg was born January 11, 1958, in Pratt, Kansas. He was the eldest son of Billy and Beverly DeWeese. Greg enjoyed his participation in basketball, football and track during his school years in Cunningham. He attended Pratt Community College and Pittsburg State College.
He was a member of the Cunningham United Methodist Church.
Greg’s career with both Gabriel and East Coast Communications involved traveling from coast to coast constructing communication towers and installing electrical equipment before settling with his own business and crew, DeWeese Communication Services DCS, LLC in Lexington, SC.
On February 17, 2001, Greg was united in marriage to Ekaterini (Kathy) Theresa DeWeese in Lexington, SC, where they resided with their canine children Lexi and Zarko until his untimely death. He was preceded in death by his father Billy DeWeese; Grandparents Oliver and Leona DeWeese and James and Ruth Weir; Uncles Larry Weir, Eldon Morti, Merrill Jones, Bob Blinka, Vincent Theis; Aunt Anna Blinka; Cousins Jay and Tracy Jones, Steve Weir, Renee Sullivan and Tim Theis.
He is survived by his wife Kathy DeWeese (Myrtle Beach, SC); his mother Beverly DeWeese (Cunningham, KS); brothers Brian DeWeese (Overland Park, KS) and Michael (Vanessa) DeWeese (Cunningham, KS); Aunts Barbara Morti (Hutchinson, KS), Donna DeWeese (Manor, TX), and Jean Evers (Valley Center, KS); Nephews Travis (Larissa) DeWeese (Wheat Ridge, CO), Erik (Kimber) DeWeese (Kingman, KS), and Dalton DeWeese (Overland Park, KS); Nieces Tori and Brina DeWeese (Overland Park, KS); Cousins Rodney (Cindy) Blinka (Rosenberg, TX), Vicki Lyman (Round Rock, TX), Teresa, Tama, Tom and Ted Theis (Pflugerville and Manor, TX), Cherie Johnson (Huntington Beach, CA), Dean Weir (North Richland Hills, TX) and Brenda Chandler (Valley Center, KS).
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a canine rescue of your choice in Greg’s memory for Max and Nikita, his beloved furry companions.
