NASHVILLE, KANSAS — Laverne W. Westerman, 96, died September 27, 2018, in Kingman.

He was born January 7, 1922, at Nashville, Kansas the son of William and Mary Peters Westerman. A lifetime resident of the Nashville community, he was a retired farmer.

Laverne was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Nashville; the Lutheran Layman’s League; and the American Legion at Isabel, Kansas; and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran .

On April 6, 1947, he married Geneva Hensiek at Nashville; she died September 13, 2018. Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Loetta and Merlyn Lohrke, Gloria and Phil Theis, , Lynette and Steve Drake and Genelle and Scott Strong; brother Earl Westerman; sisters Wilma Pettay and Ilene Westerman; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by an infant sister.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., October 1, 2018, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Nashville.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial with U.S. Military Rites provided by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard will be in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.
