The Pratt Public Library will host a “show and tell” featuring talking books at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at the library.
The public is encouraged to learn more about Kansas Talking Books Program for the visually and physically impaired. Special demonstrations of the new digital machines and use of the USB flash drives will be on the agenda, with plenty of time for individuals to try out the machine and practice downloading books of their own choosing.
The open house is one of many that will occur in public libraries across the central part of the state during the week. Readers’ advisors from the Kansas Talking Books Program will be the featured speakers. Applications for the program will be available.
Approximately 7,000 Kansans enjoy the service, which is free to qualified participants. Machines and books are distributed free of charge to users through the U.S. Postal Service.
If you are interested in the service but unable to attend the open house, call toll free 1-800-362-0699 for more information. An open house is scheduled at 10 a.m. March 11 at Kingman Carnegie Library, Kingman.
