A new Pratt physician is enthusiastic about his choice, after his first month in practice. Dr. Aaron Zook knew he would like his colleagues, having served a one-month rural medicine rotation with Pratt Internal Medicine Group as part of his medical school studies four years ago.
A native of Larned, Zook knew even before the rotation, that his preference was for a rural community.
“It’s more personal,” he said. “I have a better chance to know the patient, and the people have been great patients to work with.”
The same could be said for his decision to specialize in internal medicine. It’s a specialty where you get to sit down and talk with the patient and together with the patient figure out what the problem is, he said. Internal medicine offers a broad spectrum of very interesting work.
He doesn’t believe he will ever be bored as a physician.
The presence of a regional medical center in the community was another positive in drawing him back to Pratt, again because of the variety of cases that are treated and the opportunity to “work alongside so many gifted physicians,” he explained.
Zook completed his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University and medical studies at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver.
In his free time, he enjoys hunting, sports and exercise. He has made it to the Blythe Family Fitness Center a few times, taken in a couple of high school football games, and looks forward to becoming a part of the Pratt community.
