Margaret “Jean” Releford, 86, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Arma, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the home of her son Randy in Kansas City. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Releford was born Aug. 30, 1923, at Coats, the daughter of Frank and Mabel Landon Harris. She was raised near Coats and graduated from Coats High School in 1942. She married Robert E. Releford on July 20, 1948, at Kingman. They moved to Kansas City in 1961 and to Arma in 1987. She was a member of Lon Helm Post No. 182 American Legion Auxiliary at Arma.
Survivors include: two sons, Randy and wife Paula, Kansas City, Mo., and Gary and wife Cherie, Boise, Idaho; a brother, Roy Harris, Pratt; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 22, 2005; parents; a sister, Mildred Sanderson; and two brothers, Louis and Melvin Harris.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, prior to the service.
The family suggests memorials to the Arma American Legion Scholarship Fund, in care of Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.
