Myrna Rose Shanley, age 73, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at her home in Pratt. She was born June 28, 1935, in Madison, the daughter of William Jackson and Sarah Jones O’Brien. On Oct. 30, 1954, she married James Robert Shanley in Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2005.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pratt. She was a bakery manager for Dillons of Pratt for 20 years and worked at Phil’s Diner for two years. Myrna was a nanny to her grandchildren and numerous other children.
She is survived by two sons, James M. and wife Brenda Shanley of Many, La., and William A. Shanley of Pratt; three daughters, Debra K. and husband Brad Elliott of Medicine Lodge, Susie D. and husband Phil Farmer of Pratt and Cindy L. and husband Danny Quint of Pratt; two brothers, Edward O’Brien of Houston, Texas, and Ralph O’Brien of Tennessee; four sisters, Margaret Roe and Pat Hammonds, both of Pratt, Judy Conradson of Arizona and Kathy Rohr of Chicago; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; a son, Tom Shanley; and three brothers, William, Jerry and Jimmy; and three sisters, Mary, Pauline and Etta.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Larrison Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, with Chaplain Fred Pinkerton presiding. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt.
