Roy Vernon Dargel, 81, died June 23, 2009, in Greensburg. He was born Feb. 19, 1928, the son of Fredrich and Bessie M. Sypher Dargel.
Roy was a lifetime resident of Kiowa County. He had retired from Northern Natural Gas Company. Roy served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Greensburg.
On Nov. 21, 1954, he married Irene Maxine Thomas in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Thomas Trent, Oklahoma City, Okla., Carl and wife Marty Dargel, Murrieta, Calif., and Jim and wife Debbie Dargel, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; one daughter, Delpha “Del” and husband Jim Smith, Wichita; one brother, Calvin and wife Sue Moore, Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Mary (Dargel) Stagaard, Garden City; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter
 No formal services are planned. A memorial service is pending. Memorials in Roy’s name may be made to the Hospice of the Prairie in care of Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S. Main St., Greensburg, KS 67054.
