Floyd D. Wedel, 68, died Jan. 27, 2010. He was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Little River, to Ben and Edna Wedel. He grew up in Pratt. Following graduation from Pratt High School in 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a flight deck director aboard the USS Ranger.
Upon his discharge he married Gail Gillespie, and soon settled in San Jose, Calif., to raise his family. When he retired from PW Supermarkets in 2000, the family moved to Aptos, Calif., where he enjoyed his retirement by the ocean.
Floyd leaves Gail, his wife of 47 years; children Todd Wedel and Anne Blasik (John); five beloved grandchildren; niece Cathy Kinney and family, and his friend and brother-in-law Frank Greene.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Greene.
He is remembered by his friends and family for his strength, integrity and commitment to family.
