Eva “Ruth” Banks Romine, 91, was called to her home, Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.  She was born Aug. 15, 1920, in a rock house on the family homestead in Baca County, Colo., the daughter of Arthur and Gladys Ammann Banks.

The family moved from Colorado to Isabel in a covered wagon in March of 1925.

Ruth was a homemaker and a teacher for 31 years.  She taught at Fairview East, Isabel, and Medicine Lodge.She was a member of the Isabel United Methodist Church and the Isabel Eastern Star.

On May 25, 1946, she married Claude “Wayne” Romine. He died July 23, 1998.

She is survived by four sons, Don (Kathy), Claude Wayne “Buddy” (Janice), and David (Marilyn), all of Isabel and Conard, Nashville, Kan.; a daughter, Glennis “Jean” (Harold), St. Peters, Mo.; a sister, Helen Gobin, Derby; two sisters-in-law, Zelma Romine and Eleanor Banks, both of Isabel; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Ray Banks, and a grandson Roger Romine.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt.Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary with John Hamm presiding.Burial will be in the Isabel Cemetery, Isabel.

Memorials may be made to Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital or to the Medicine Lodge Grade School PTO in care of the mortuary.
