  1. More seniors take advantage of Part D —We noticed while waiting in line at a local pharmacy that some seniors are still unaware of Medicare Part D and the savings it offers on many prescriptions. PRMC’s Prescription Assistance program explains it all. Call 450-1422 from 9-noon Tuesday, 9-3 Wednesday and 1-4 Thursday.
  2. Skyline earn a win at Webster Field — Mark your calendars for Friday, Sept. 4, when the Skyline Thunderbird football team will play its first game on Webster Field. The field was named in honor of longtime SHS coach Jim Webster during last year’s season finale. Attica will be on the opposing sideline for the 7 p.m. game, and T-bird fans are encouraged to cheer their team to victory in the season opener.
  3. Businesses accommodate Mom — Breastfeeding Awareness Week has ended, and the state provided sound advice businesses should consider to accommodate working mothers who are breastfeeding. We encourage Pratt County businesses to offer nursing mothers some flexibility in hours and a clean, private room to pump milk. Breast milk is the best food for infants, and we must remove barriers for nursing mothers.
  4. Support for the work of the Lake Committee — New additions to the Pratt County Veterans Memorial Lake are drawing more visitors to the lake and bringing more tourist dollars to Pratt. These improvements take money and while grant money helps cover some of the cost, the Lake Improvement Committee can always use donations. Those generous enough to donate money for improvements can contact the Pratt County Clerk at 672-4110.
  5. Everyone join a Relay for Life team — Support the local Relay for Life by buying a luminary or participating in team fund-raisers. Pratt County’s goal is to raise $70,000 for cancer research and to provide free services to patients in our community. Come to the Relay, at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Zerger Field. You will be inspired when survivors crowd the track for the first lap. They are folks who have beaten the disease, thanks in part to people like you, who have donated what they can.
