To the editor:

On Saturday, June 26, the Numana Harvest for Haiti mission field came to Pratt. You responded to the call.

Many thanks to our fine community and surrounding areas for their part in achieving our Numana goal! We are humbled by the abundant showing of volunteers who gave of their time and energies to meet the goal of packaging a 40 foot trailer full of meals for the starving people of Haiti. Many of you worked several shifts, and we are thankful for that. Many of you gave financially as well, and we are also thankful for that.

Without the support of area businesses, we would not have had such a successful event.

Businesses that participated by purchasing a sponsorship ($250 or more) were: Taylor Printing, Farm Bureau Insurance, A/R Roofing, Strong’s Insurance, Professional Secretarial Services, Memories, Stanion Wholesale Electric, State Farm Insurance, The Peoples Bank, First State Bank, Kansas Wildlife & Parks and Pratt Family Dental. Many other businesses gave, or donated anonymously. We thank each and every one of you.

We wish to extend special thanks to all the youth who embraced this project and were so creative in ways to fundraise. One group of local students paid to wear hoodies and flip flops (which was a treat for them as they are not normally allowed), other students sold nachos, while others had lemonade stands. One little person sold pencils for $4 each. You are all future entrepreneurs!

When you step out in faith that God will do great things, stand back and expect them. Our Numana event is certainly proof of that! Thanks to all who helped and supported in any way.
