To the editor:
As a REALTOR and tax-payer in Pratt, I would like to express my “THANKS” to the City Commissioners of Pratt for voting “FOR” the Maple Street project.
These extra building sites will allow the local contractors to build “SPEC” homes for people wanting to live in Pratt.
To date, there are very limited lots available for contractors to build on. Pratt has experienced expansion projects before, and they have all been successful. The Northeast, the Southwest, and Southwest additions are examples of expansion projects, or new areas of new homes that are a bright spot in the history of Pratt. New homes are a sign of progress and a breath of new to a community. A city without growth will die or go dormant.
Pratt has always had aggressive leaders with a winning spirit, new homes, new schools, an up-to-date hospital, and good merchants.
The people of Pratt are a proud group and it shows in the comments from visitors to our community. We have a great park system, recreational facilities, and motels. We have friendly merchants with up-to-date stores and equipment. The stores are clean and well kept.
I am a native of Pratt, as is my wife. We have raised our family here and I am proud to say we have called this HOME for 70 or so years. My parents and my wife’s parents were all PRATTITES… I am very proud of Pratt and the people who call this HOME. We have a city the other cities and people envy.
With the spirit that this community has and the management that our commissioners and City Manager commit to, we came a long way to keep ahead of the neighbors and similar communities that are not willing to commit to the future. If my generation and the ones behind me will only have the foresight and willingness to allow our elected leaders make the decisions that they have to make, then, in my opinion, we will be proud when we look back at Pratt, Kansas.
