- Township 12 firefighters put out a small ditch fire on SE 30th Street about a half mile west of the Glendale Church. The cause of the fire is unknown but it could be a chain dragging on the pavement and throwing sparks because both the north and south ditch were on fire, said Township 12 Fire Chief Mark McManaman. A vehicle mechanical problem that caused sparks might also have been the cause. The fire was quickly extinguished with no property damage. Only the ditch grass burned.
