The Bethel College women’s basketball team fell to Oklahoma Wesleyan 74-57 Saturday night in KCAC play at Thresher Gym.

Bethel trailed 18-15 after the first quarter and 35-26 at the half. Oklahoma Wesleyan used a 29-12 third quarter to put things away.

Bethel hit just 18 of 59 from the field for 30.5 percent, 10 of 37 in the second half for 27 percent. OWU finished 24 of 63 shooting, 12 of 28 in the second half. Bethel was 16 of 32 from the line.

Shelbie Kirby scored 20 points for OWU, followed by Tiffany Rieger with 19 and Kayla Morgan with 12.

Elise Gerlach scored 12 points for Bethel, followed by Karlie Schroeder with 10.

Oklahoma Wesleyan is 13-15, 9-11 in KCAC play. Bethel falls to 3-22, 1-19 in KCAC play. Bethel hosts York at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Thresher home finale.

The Bethel College men’s basketball team was knocked out of the KCAC post-season tournament race with a 97-80 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan Saturday at Thresher Gym.

Oklahoma Wesleyan improved to 12-15, 9-11 in KCAC play. Bethel falls to 11-17, 5-15 in KCAC play. With two games remaining, Oklahoma Wesleyan holds a one-game lead over Kansas Wesleyan for eighth place, the final KCAC post-season berth. Bethel drops to four games behind the Eagles.

The two teams split in the regular season.

Bethel trailed 58-38 at the half.

OWU was led by Jacob Feickert with 22 points, Alexander Breiman with 18, Shaqur Martin with 16, Elbert Lawrence with 13, Anietie Jack with 12 and Ryan Schuessler with 10. Jack had 11 rebounds

Deven Goodwin scored 25 points for Bethel, followed by Austin Mitchell with 16 and Chase Banister with 10.

ELBING — The Berean Academy girls’ basketballl used 24 points from Amanda Harder to top Sterling 55-47 Friday in Heart of America League play in Elbing.

Berean trailed 26-25 at the half and 40-37 after three quarters. The Warriors were eight of 12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, while Sterling was one of two.

Taya Wilson scored 18 points for Sterling, followed by Maddie Thrasher with 14.

Moundridge led 20-13 at the half, taking things in hand with a 14-3 third-quarter run.

Lexi Lorimor scored 15 points for Moundridge, followed by Bethany Stucky with 12.

Makayla Michael scored six points for Inman.

PEABODY — The Peabody-Burns girls’ basketball team claimed its first win of the season, snapping a 29-game losing streak with a 37-26 win over Wakefield Monday night in Wheat State League play in Peabody.

The Warriors led 17-16 at the half and outscored Wakefield 11-0 in the third quarters.

Mallory Harris led Peabody-Burns with 13 points. Shawna Trump scored eight points for Wakefield, 3-15.

Peabody-Burns is 1-17 and hosts Elyria Christian today.

Down 26-25 at the half, Berean took a 43-37 lead after three quarters and held off the Black Bears in the fourth quarter.

Toby Penner and Ben Herrman each scored 19 points for Berean.

Lucas Briar scored 21 points for Sterling, followed by Kyler Comley with 16 and Ed Weiner with 12.
