PHS head coach Derek Liggett has said his kids expect to be able to compete successfully against anyone, and the Greenbacks did just that- both the girls and boys teams taking 4th in the 12 team field.

You know its a big prep meet when they have to run heats of the 1600m. That's exactly what the Pratt High School track and field team found themselves facing Friday at Goddard- a large meet packed with 5- and 6A schools.

The top 6 girls team scores were 1. Andale 179 2. Bishop Carroll 105 3. Maize 71 4. Pratt 53.5 5,6 tie. Andover and Goddard Ike 43.5.

Andale also won the boys division with 102.5. Then it was Bishop Carroll 97.5, Liberal 77, Pratt 76, Maize 74, Andover 58.

The sprinters/jumpers led the way for the PHS boys. In the 100m, Noah Myers was 1st 11.15 and Hunter Kaufman was 4th 11.32. Kaufman won the 200m 22.70.

In a meet this size, they place seven instead of the usual six. Trent Nickelson took advantage, getting 7th in the 400m 52.23.

Tony Ibarra represented in distance, 5th 1600m 4:39.

Bryce Stegman figured in both hurdle races, taking second in the 110mH 15.13 and second in the 300mH 41.04.

The 4x400 relay (Nickelson,Myers,Stegman, Kaufman) took second 3:26.

In the jumps, Samson Kohman was third in high jump 6'; Noah Myers won the long jump 23'1 and took second in the triple 42'5.25.

Halle Helfrich brought home three gold medals on the day in the girls division. She captured the 800m 2:22 and was part of the winning 4x1 (49.7) and 4x4 (4:07) relays. Joining Helfrich in both relays were Stephanie Reichenberger and Nicole Reichenberger. Brooklynn Bourgeois was on the 4x1 and Vanessa Leckner on the 4x4.

Bourgeois took 4th in the 100m 12.97. Stephanie Reichenberger was 4th in the 300mH 49.64.

In the field, Kaitlyn Rasmussen high jumped to fourth 4'10. Nicole Reichenberger pole vaulted 10' to tie for fifth. Megan Kolm triple jumped 32'10 to take fifth.

Thrower Stefania Staffolani got fourth in javelin 114'5 and 6th in discus 96'.

Next up for the Frog thinclads is the league meet to be hosted on Thursday by Hillsboro starting at 2 p.m. Boys the boys and the girls squads expect to be in the hunt for the CKL title.
