Newton High School senior Landon Moore Thursday announced his appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he will play football beginning this fall.

Moore is a 6-foot-1, 185 pound quarterback and wide receiver. As a senior, Moore hit 64 of 155 passes for 950 yards with eight touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He rushed for 821 yards on 140 carries with nine touchdowns.

Moore was an honorable mention All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division II selection as a senior.

Moore also competes in track at Newton.

He is the third Railer athlete to receive a military academy appointment and the third Railer football player to commit to a Division I program. He will join running back Kade Remsberg at Air Force.

Air Force finished 10-3 last season, 5-3 in the Mountain West Conference. The Falcons downed South Alabama 45-21 in the Arizona Bowl.
