Lakin Cunningham is off to compete in the National Junior High Rodeo.

Lakin Cunningham, daughter of Todd Cunningham of Gardner KS and Kara Cunningham of Louisburg KS, and the granddaughter of Glen Cunningham and the late Mary Beth Cunningham of Pratt and Jim and Sandy Lowe of Louisburg, is participating in the National Junior High Rodeo in Lebanon, Tennessee this week.

Lakin's events are barrel racing and goat tying. She earned the right to participate at Nationals by placing second in goat tying and third in barrels at the State Junior High Rodeo at Dodge City last month.

This will be Lakin's third year to compete at Nationals. Lakin is also a Kansas Delegate to the Nationals- her third year as a representative. She is also the retiring president of the Kansas Junior High Rodeo Association.

Lakin will also be participating in the same two events at the National Little Britches Rodeo next month as the top Kansas barrel racer and top goat tying participant for her age group.

Lakin is 14 and will be attending Louisburg High School as a freshman in August. She also participates in track and is a member of the Louisburg marching band that will be performing in the 2018 Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California on January 1, 2018.
