The Pratt Bombers won the Silver Bracket of the Smoky Ford Wood Bat Classic this past weekend at Green Sports Complex.

Round two of the Smoky Ford Wood Bat tournament was held this past weekend at Green Sports Complex. Last weekend, teams of 12U, 13U and 14U kids participated. This weekend's version featured 10U and 11U teams.

With the numbers of teams not distributed equally among 10U and 11U teams, the 12 entrants were divided into 3 pools for Saturday's play, then sorted into two different brackets for play on Sunday. Essentially, all teams were treated as being 11U.

The Pratt Bombers won the Silver Bracket. On Saturday, they downed Butler County Braves 10-8, but fell to Wichita Aeros 14-8 in pool play.

In bracket play on Sunday, the Bombers advanced by dropping the Dodge City Athletics, and then beat Winfield Warriors in the semifinals.

That brought about a rematch with Wichita Aeros. Second time was the charm as the Bombers avenged their earlier defeat and captured the tournament title in the championship matchup.

In pool play, the Bat Cats from Pratt were all over the Red Dirt Bandits 15-0 before losing 7-0 to the Brawlers. The Pratt Punishers were also 1-1 in pool play, losing to Great Bend Bombers 8-5 before winning 8-2 over Dodge City Athletics. Both the Bat Cats and Punishers were placed in the Gold Bracket on Sunday.

The Bat Cats faced off against the Punishers in the first round on Sunday, with the Bat Cats coming out on top. They then fell to eventual Gold Bracket champions Buhler Nationals in the semis, and also lost to the Brawlers in the 3rd place game.

After losing to Bat Cats, the Pratt Punishers lost to Red Dirt Bandits on the back side of the bracket.
