The Pratt Huskers made it to the Sweet 16 before losing in the State 12U Hap Dumont tournament.
The 12 and under Hap Dumont state tournament was contested over the weekend at Green Sports Complex and Angood Field, hosted by the Pratt Receation Department.
Local ball club the Pratt Huskers earned their way to the tournament with NBC points acquired at events throughout the summer.
After dominating their pool on Saturday, the Pratt Huskers fell to Wichita Falcons in the second round of bracket play.
The Huskers came into the 41-team tourney as the tenth overall seed, which placed them as the top seed in Pool J. They breezed through pool play, romping the Newton Dirtbaggers 21-2 in their opener on Friday, then dropping the Barracudas 10-1 in their nightcap.
Following pool play on Thursday and Friday, the top 30 teams advanced to championship bracket play, while the bottom 11 were assigned slots in the consolation bracket. The winners of pools A and B, which would be the two top seeds overall in the tournament, received byes in the first round of the championship bracket.
The Huskers got past the Haven Warhawks in the first round on Saturday afternoon, but then fell to eventual state runners-up Wichita Falcons in the Sweet 16. That defeat dropped the Huskers from the championship in the single elimination event.
Another area team, Cunningham, won their pool, then advanced past Salina Sluggers and the Barracudas before falling to eventual state champion Topeka Storm in the quarterfinals.
Kansas Diamond Kings defeated Hays Indians in the 3rd place game. The consolation bracket was won by Andover Black Sox.
