Skyline football lost 54-18 at Attica Friday night.
Sometimes a game is not as close as the final scores indicates; sometimes it’s closer.
The football game Friday with Skyline on the road at Attica was one of the latter as the Bulldogs won 54-18, but the contest was way closer than that looks for at least half of it.
A stretch of just a couple of minutes surrounding the intermission proved to be Skyline’s undoing.
After a hard-fought first half, it was a one-score game in favor of Attica until the Bulldogs punched in a TD right before the break to go up 22-6.
They then ran the second half’s opening kickoff back to make it two unanswered touchdowns in just a few clock minutes. The Bulldogs would hold the T-Birds scoreless in Q3 while adding another TD of their own to establish a 38-6 lead heading to the final period.
The Thunderbirds played right with Attica in Q4, each side posting a pair of scores to make the final count 54-18. It was a competitive game in quarters 1 and 4, but Attica owned quarters 2 and 3 which accounted for the margin of victory.
T-Bird QB Carson Lee threw for one TD and rushed for another; Seth Bower had the other Skyline score on the ground.
Skyline falls to 1-4 with the loss. They will host South Central this Friday with kickoff at 7 p.m.
The SHS band soup supper will precede the game at 5 p.m.
