Sian Helfrich took 25th at State cross country in Wamego on Saturday.

Competing in her first State cross country meet against the best 4A female runners in Kansas, Pratt High freshman Sian Helfrich acquitted herself quite well- finishing just a few places out of the hardware.

Helfrich crossed the finish line 25th, with 20th place claiming the final medal. Helfrich’s time over the hilly, challenging course was 20:59.

Perennial powerhouse Baldwin captured the team title in girls 4A with 61 pts. Andover Central followed with 92 and Fort Scott 110. The individual crown went to Chapman’s Taylor Briggs, who navigated the course in 18:46.
