Skyline's girls lost to St. John on Friday night 37-26 while the boys also fell 59-32.
The basketball season opened for Skyline with a pair of games against St. John at the Thunderdome last Friday.
The Tigers got the better of the T-Birds in both halves of the twin bill. The girls game was 37-26 and the boys score was 59-32, both in favor of St. John.
In the opener, a slow start doomed the Lady Thunderbirds. They were outscored 11-1 in the opening frame, the lone Skyline point coming on a Gracie Bricker free throw. From that point on, the Thunderbirds hung right with the Tigers.
In the final three stanzas, St. John had 26 points to 25 for Skyline. Unfortunately, the T-Birds could never climb out of the hole they had fallen into in Q1, but they did go toe-to-toe with the Tigers over the final three quarters.
Kayley Cook was the leading scorer for Skyline with 8, Kailey Hamm added 7. Tara Nelson (15) and Bree Meyer (12) were in double figures for the Tigers.

In the boys game, St. John's length played dividends as the Tigers' bigs did most of the offensive damage. 6'4 F Chase Fisher scored 12 of his team-high 19 points in the first frame to stake the Tigers to a 20-12 lead they never relinquished. 6'7 post man Tanner Halling added 12 for St. John.
Quincy Smith (10) was also in double figures for the Tigers, who are expected to figure prominently in the 1A post season.
Tyler Tobin had the range from outside for Skyline, swishing in five 3s on his way to a 19 point effort- tying St. John's Fisher for game honors. Sam Fisher added 8 for the T-Birds.
