106 lb. fr., Devon Weber began his day with a fall over Powell of Heights and a major decision over Black of Rose Hill. Devon continued on his march through the bracket with a sound 7-1 decision over Blick of Andover High. In the semifinal, Devon was set for a rematch with Ian Demoss of Maize South. Devon controlled the match, winning 9-7 to avenge his earlier 9-6 loss at the Maize Invitational. In the championship match, Devon ran into the 32-2 #6 ranked 6A opponent, Caden Howard of Olathe Northwest. Caden controlled the match, winning 8-1. Devon looked sharp on the day and is making some adjustments that will help come Regionals. Devon was 4-1 on the day, 25-12 on the season, 2nd place.

113 lb. fr,. Kaiser Pelland began his day with a tough opponent from Edmund Oklahoma, Jackson Oplotnik, losing to him by fall. Kaiser’s next match in a tough pool was against the #4 ranked 4A opponent, Kyle Sackett of Rose Hill and Kaiser also lost that match by a fall. Kaiser bounced back to even his record at 2-2 on the day with a 3-0 decision over Strella of Wichita NW and an exhilarating overtime fall over Muhammad Terrell of Wichita Heights, to end his day on a very positive note! Kaiser was 2-2 on the day, 5th place.

120 lb. so., Dylan Cox began with two tough matchups in his pool as well, losing by fall to Atkinson of Rose Hill and the solid, #6 in 4A, Zach Strait of Concordia. Bryce bounced back with a win by fall over Sparks of Andover High. Bryce finished his day with a 4-3 decision over Bishop of Andover High. Bryce had been out of action for a sustained amount of time before last week, so it is good to get him back on the mat in consecutive weeks, with a couple of wins to end his day. Bryce was 2-2 on the day for 5thplace.

152 lb. so., Derek Roadhouse, began his day with a loss by major decision to Wernli of El Dorado. Derek followed that up with a fall over Schilling of Andover. Justin followed that up with major decisions over Robinson of Wichita NW and Bartsch of Blue Valley, 10-1. In the final, Justin bested Brandon Medina of Olathe NW in a workmanlike 4-3 decision. Justin is now 27-8 on the year, he ended with another championship on the season and had an impressive 5-0 record on the day for 1st place!

Hopefully in two weeks, we will have a shot at winning CKL. If everyone is healthy, we have a legitimate shot, if not, we will do what we can. The Greenbacks have an off week to get healthy and keep our conditioning on track for the final stretch.

Missing 4 varsity wrestlers, the Greenbacks still managed to bring home one 6th place, four 5th place finishes, one 4th place a 2nd place finish, and one championship in a mixed pool format. We certainly have more work to do as we refocus for the post season, but these boys can do it!

Go Greenbacks!
