Skyline's boys beat Attica on the road Tuesday night 43-38; the lady T-Birds fell to the Bulldogs 37-29

It's been a barnburner every time Skyline and Attica boys have faced off in basketball this season. The Thunderbirds won this round 43-38 on the road in what was the rubber game of the teams' match-ups so far this year.

In the girls game, Attica rode a big fourth quarter to rally for the win 37-29 against the tough-luck Lady T-Birds.

It was a big third quarter that lifted the Thunderbirds to the win in the boys game. Trailing 28-23 at the break, the T-Birds exploded for 16 pts in Q3 while holding the Bulldogs to 7 to turn the tables and take a 39- 35 lead to the decisive stanza.

Tyler Tobin hit a pair of 3s, and Sam Fisher and Carson Lee each had a couple of baskets in the third quarter uprising.

The fourth quarter was played close to the vest as neither team wore out the nets very much, but that allowed Skyline to emerge with the 43-38 victory.

The Lady Thunderbirds looked to be in position to pick up their second consecutive victory until the Lady Bulldogs went off on them in Q4. Skyline led 8-3, 15-13 and 23-21 at the end of the first three quarters in what was a pretty tight ballgame. Although not scoring at will themselves, the Lady Thunderbirds had played well enough defensively to maintain the lead to that point.

The Bulldogs came up big in the final frame, however, posting 16 pts to SHS' 6 to claim the 37-29 win. Kayley Cook had a nice night offensively for Skyline, pouring through 15 pts, but she was the only T-Bird in double figures as, on the whole, Skyline had trouble scoring. They did not manage double digits in any quarter.

The Thunderbirds road trip continues on Friday as they will travel to Cunningham.
