The Liberty Middle School wrestling team traveled to Russell on Thursday for a double dual with Russell and Larned. As with many of the duals that Liberty has participated in this season, the format was changed to a round robin format so wrestlers could wrestle at least two matches.
Liberty's "little guys" combined for an 8-0 record on the night each going 2-0 at 75, 80 and 85 lbs. Hayden May and Tyler Foreman represented Liberty at 75 pounds. Trae' Foreman wrestled at 80 pounds and Cody Hoy at 85 pounds.
Three other Liberty grapplers went undefeated on the night. Brendon Pribil, Shawn Ramos and Cesar Regalado were perfect at 110, 115, and 120 pounds respectively.
Drake Evert, Taylor White and Brett Forshee finished the night with a 2-1 record. Nick Koler, Joshua Ash, Cooper Crump and Wayde Freeman each won at least one match at the event. The Greenbacks finished the night 25-22 overall.
"The host site did a great job matching up all the wrestlers according to size and ability. Our little guys enjoyed wrestling opponents that were not wearing a green singlet,” LMS coach Bryan Pixler said. “Many of our experienced wrestlers matched up well with Russell and made for some great matches."
LMS went to Lyons for a tournament on Saturday, and results from that tournament will appear in the Tribune later this week.
