Big early leads propelled the Skyline Middle School boys basketball teams to a sweep of Burrton last Thursday night at Skyline.

Skyline A team 42, Burrton 21
The T-birds went inside early in the A team game, as Brandon Abbott and Chris Santana each scored four first-quarter points to help Skyline take a 9-2 lead after six minutes of play.
Abbott added eight more points in the second quarter while Cole Patterson had four and Santana scored two more as the eighth graders led their team to a 23-4 halftime lead.
The T-birds continued to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring Burrton 11-7 as they took a 34-11 lead into the fourth quarter.
Skyline got a game-high 16 points from Abbott while Santana added ten and Patterson finished with eight.
Blake Lee chipped in with five while Colin Little had two and Ross Westhoff scored one.

Skyline B team 34, Burrton 21
Skyline also jumped out to a big early lead in the B team game, and that fast start set the T-birds up for a 34-21 win.
Daniel Hacker scored four of Skyline’s ten first quarter points as the T-birds went up 10-2.
Hacker added two more of his game-high 14 in the second quarter, helping Skyline take an 18-8 halftime lead.
That was plenty of cushion for the T-birds, who pulled away even further in the second half.
Hacker led all scorers with 14 as nine players scored for Skyline.
The T-birds got three points each from Brenden Dearinger, Dustin Weber and Coleman West.
Gunner DeClue, Austin Gilpin, Lee, and Little had two each while Cody Fanning finished with one.
The T-birds’ B team will play in the Skyline tournament Saturday. They will face Cunningham at 9 a.m. and Norwich at 11:20 a.m.
SMS travels to Attica today, and the Skyline squads will host South Barber Monday evening with games at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
