Skyline to host HOPL tourney

Middle school basketball season is winding down, but the Skyline  Middle School teams will have at least two more games at home, as they will host the Heart of the Plains League tournament starting Saturday morning.
Skyline’s girls are the top seed in the tournament, and will begin their run at a championship against eighth-seeded Attica. That game will tip off at 11:40 a.m. Saturday at Skyline.
Other first-round girls games include third-seeded Cunningham meeting sixth-seeded Fairfield at 9 a.m., fourth-seeded Pretty Prairie taking on fifth-seeded Burrton at 2:20 p.m., and second-seeded South Barer facing seventh-seeded Norwich at 5 p.m.
On the boys side, Skyline is seeded fourth and will face fifth-seeded Pretty Prairie at 3:40 p.m. Saturday.
Other first-round boys games are second-seeded Fairfield facing seventh-seeded Attica at 10:20 a.m., third-seeded Central Christian meeting sixth-seeded Cunningham at 1 p.m., and top-seeded South Barber facing eighth-seeded Stafford in the 6:20 p.m. game.
Semifinals for boys and girls will be Monday, Feb. 15, with the championship and third-place games being held Thursday evening.
Skyline will host South Barber tomorrow night in the regular season finale for both teams. Varsity girls and JV boys games will tip off at 6 p.m. with the varsity boys and JV girls playing in the 7:15 p.m. games.
