Liberty Middle School eighth grade teams win at Medicine Lodge Invite

Liberty Middle School’s eighth grade girls and boys track teams won their divisions at the Medicine Lodge Invitational on Tuesday, April 20.

Jensen Maydew broke the LMS record with her winning shot put of 36 feet, 8.5 inches, plus she finished fourth in the discus to score 14 of Liberty’s 145 points.

Christina Fernandez won the 200 meter dash in 30.58 seconds while Amy Olson topped the long jump field with a leap of 13 feet, seven inches and Breanna Doman won the 100 meter dash in 14.62 seconds.

Dakota Jones had two second-place finishes. She cleared four feet, four inches in the high jump and ran the 75 meter hurdle race in 13.61 seconds to claim runner-up honors in both events.

Adele Loomis was second in the 800 meter run in 2:49.75 while teammate Morgan Strong was third in 2:57.21. Bailey Noel finished second in the 1600 meter run in 6:19.40 while Loomis was third in 6:30.55.

Olson was second in the triple jump with a distance of 28 feet, 2.5 inches.

Pratt’s eighth grade boys got winning performances from Mac Callaway, Drew Dobbs, Brett Forshee and Josh Shumway as they won the team title with 147.5 points.

Callaway won the 100 meter dash in 12.21 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 25.58 seconds while Dobbs won the 1600 meter run in 5:46.

Forshee took first in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 6.5 inches, and Shumway won the 200 meter hurdles in 31.14 seconds.

Pratt’s 4x100, 4X200 and medley relay teams won their races with times of 51.99 seconds, 1:50.21, and 1:58.27.

Garrett Johnston was second in the 1600 in 6:07 and Shumway finished second in the 75 meter hurdles in 11.85 seconds.

Liberty’s seventh grade boys were fourth with 72 points. They won the 4X100 meter relay in 54.58 seconds and the 4X200 meter relay in 1:56.71.

Josh Ash and Ethan Sharp finished second and third in the 1600 meter run in 5:41 and 5:44, and the medley relay team was second in 2:02.08.

Brandon Ruckle also placed second in the 75 meter hurdles in 13.02 seconds.

The LMS seventh grade girls scored 58 points for fourth place.

They won all three relays with winning times of 58.37 seconds in the 4X100, 2:12.58 in the medley, and 2:05.42 in the 4X200.

Samaria Kohman was the only individual event winner. She won the discus with a throw of 74 feet, 2.5 inches.
