The Lady Greenbacks, coming off a disappointing performance in their last game, took care of business against the once-beaten Haven Wildcats as they put together a very solid effort to win by 15 points.
The two teams would start slow as the Lady Greenbacks would lead 4-2 five minutes into the game with baskets coming from Dominique Staats and Jenson Maydew. The Pratt girls led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter. With 20 seconds left in the quarter, a 3-point shot by Amy Olson gave them a lead they would never surrender.
The Greenbacks scored 18 points in the second quarter, with Aubrey Hoover, Haylie Hook, Jensen Maydew and Whitney Tilley all contributing to a 28-16 lead at the half.
Haven scored the first four points of the third quarter, but Hook hit a shot behind the 3-point line to get the lead back into double digits. The Wildcats would get a pair of free throws at the 3:55 mark but then the Lady Greenbacks would close out the quarter with a 9-point run.
Maydew would get the first four points of the run and then Hoover would get a basket and a 3-point shot with 8.5 seconds left in the quarter to get the Lady Greenbacks up by 18 points.
A pair of free throws by Hook and a field goal by Maydew with 6:12 left in the game would get the lead out to 22 points. Haven would get the final nine points of the game and Pratt would have a big victory over a league rival.
Tomorrow the schedule does not get any easier as they will take on Central Kansas League opponent the 10th ranked and 6-2 Hesston Swathers who are coming off a 65-32 pasting of Nickerson.
