The Pratt High girl’s golf team traveled to Cheney Tuesday for the Central Plains League/Central Kansas League meet, with host Cheney taking first place, but Pratt just behind them in second place.

The Greenbacks shot a 201 to finish in second place while putting four golfers in the top 20 as medalists.

“The girls really did a great job at our league meet in Cheney,” said coach Kerry Thieme. “We placed second in League as a team and had four varsity medalists.  I think that is a first and only for one meet. The day was beautiful, and they only played the back nine at Cherry Oaks.”

Ellie Eastes led the Greenbacks, shooting a 47 for fifth place overall. Right behind her was Jordi Garrett, who shot a 48 to tie for sixth. Abby Skaggs and Anna Stotts tied for ninth, each shooting a 53.

“We are leaving for Russell for our Regional placement on Saturday for a pre-round and then on Monday, October 11th, we will hope to do our best and place at Russell,” Thieme said.

The JV golf team also played in Cheney Tuesday, with Bailey Noel shooting a 67, Rebekkah Wald shooting a 72 and Katie Lathrop shooting a 73.

“The girls did a great job, this was the last junior varsity tournament of the season and they competed well,” said JV coach Crystal Kohman. “Bailey Noel did a great job shooting a 67 for her first tournament of the season. “With some consistent practice in the off-season, these girls will be ready for a great next year. These girls are a fun and enjoyable group of girls and I am glad that I was able to coach them this year.”
