The Pratt Greenback basketball teams sweep the Hesston Swathers Friday night, as the girls rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to win by one and the boys were in control for the entire game, winning by 19 points.
The Lady Greenbacks were down at one point by 16 points midway through the first half. The second half the defensive pressure improved and the ball finally started to go in. The score stood at 31-26 at the end of three quarters. In the fourth quarter the Greenbacks took the lead for the first time with 2:20 left and neither team scored after that. Pratt came away with a big 34-33 victory.
The boys scored the first 11 points of the game and led by nine after one quarter. The Swathers would get within three points during the second quarter, but an 11-3 run would give the Greenbacks an 11-point halftime lead.
The second half both teams rained down threes, but an 11-0 run in the third quarter by Pratt would put the game out of reach. The Greenbacks won 77-58. Three players, Micah Swank (36), B.J. Dean (17) and Skylar Dean (12) scored in the double figures.
The girls return to action on Tuesday when they play host to the Dodge City Red Demons for a 7:30 start.
The boys will be playing in the St. John Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic as the number 2 seed. They face the Wichita West Pioneers on Thursday with an 8:15 tip.
