A huge third quarter set the Skyline High School girls basketball team up for a runaway win over Burrton Friday night at Skyline.
The Lady T-birds outscored Burrton 25-4 in the third quarter and went on to win 68-42.
SHS led 34-24 at halftime, but opened the second half with a 9-0 run to go up 43-24 on a steal and basket by Amy Jo Maphet with 5:34 on the clock.
After Mariah Friesen hit a three for Burrton, Skyline scored eight straight points, taking a 51-27 lead on a putback by Natali Jones at the 2:20 mark.
The Lady T-birds scored the last eight points of the quarter as their defense continued to create steals and easy buckets, including three in the final minute.
That lead sealed the game for Skyline, though the Lady T-birds hit just three of 15 shots in the fourth quarter, including one-for-seven from long range.
Jones finished with 21 points and 18 rebounds, plus blocked two shots. Maphet also had 21 points to go with five steals and three assists.
Leah McPherson chipped in eight points, six boards and three assists. Audra Howell added five rebounds and three assists, while Sara Venters had six rebounds and Anna Petrowsky had four steals.
Skyline turned the ball over just seven times all night, while Burrton had 15 turnovers.
The Lady T-birds also owned a 42-23 rebounding advantage and hit 44 percent of their shots while holding Burrton to  37 percent shooting.
Valerie Wallsten led Burrton with 19 points while Friesen had 13.
