Wrestling season got underway earlier this week for Liberty Middle School, and the Greenbacks are unbeaten after a 3-0 run through the Hoisington Quad on Monday.
The quad was conducted like a tournament, but match results were applied as dual scores, making the event more fan-friendly and providing mat time for both junior varsity and varsity wrestlers, LMS coach Bryan Pixler said.
The Greenbacks beat Hays-Kennedy 60-32, plus got a 72-27 win over Hoisington and an 83-18 victory over Larned to finish 3-0 on the day.
“I was pleased with my athletes’ efforts for their first event of the season,” Pixler said. “I saw a lot of good things, but we also have some things to fix.”
LMS will compete in the Hays-Kennedy Invite Saturday at Hays High School, with matches beginning at 10 a.m.
