All good things have to come to an end, right?

Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Pratt Community College lost their first games in the programs’s short history Thursday at the hands of Cloud County Community College.

The men lost 2-0, despite a strong game from goalkeeper Chazz Samushonga, who had multiple strong saves.
The women also got a strong game at the goalie position, with Corrin Cook logging 10 saves and keeping the game close.

“She had 10 saves, which is a fantastic showing,” said women’s head coach Jerrid Schicke. “This team was the conference runner-up last year, so this was a tough matchup for us. Cloud also uses a large percentage of international players.”

Of the 29 girls on Cloud County’s roster, only nine were from the United States, with just two from Kansas. All of Schicke’s girls are from the United States, with just three coming from outside the Kansas border.

Both soccer teams will play Saturday, Sept. 4 at Haviland High School in a home matchup with Hesston College, a team that Schicke says his team will match up well against. The women play at 2 p.m., with the men to follow at 4 p.m.
