The Pratt Gators show off their medals for finishing second in the Little Sunflower League’s Western Division. The Gators went 3-2 at the league tournament over the weekend.

The Pratt Gators finished their regular season play this past weekend at the Little Sunflower League Tournament for 10 and under boys' baseball with a winning season and second place in the Western Division of the league.
Alva 11, Gators 2
Play for the Gators began on Friday night with an 11-2 loss to Alva, Okla.
Despite two singles from Grant Bolen, the only scores for the Gators were the result of runs scored by Carson Lee after being walked in the second and fourth innings.    The Gators held Alva after the second inning allowing only one score in the last three innings but they were unable to overcome the first two innings.
Gators 18, Anthony 7
Games resumed on Saturday morning with an 18-7 win over Anthony.
The first inning, the Gators scored six runs as a result of walks by the pitcher and stolen bases.
The first five Anthony batters responded to pitcher Travis Theis with hits before Theis struck out the next two batters.  The last batter was thrown out at first after Theis fielded the hit and threw him out to first baseman Wyatt Schrag ending the inning with Pratt up 6-5.
The second inning saw singles from Kaden Evert and Bolen who both scored along with Theis, Landon Studer, Schrag, Kadence Riner and Nate Kolm who also took got on base as a result of walks.
In the bottom of the second, Anthony batters scored two despite two strikeouts from Theis.  Theis fielded the ball and threw the last runner out at home for the third out, ending the inning.
The Gators again scored six in the third inning as a result of a single by Theis and five walks given up by the Anthony pitcher.  Cade Perez took over the pitching duties in the third inning before the officials called the game in the favor of the Gators due to the run rule.
Gators 16, Conway Springs No. 2 3
The Gators took the field again following the Anthony game to take on the Conway Springs No. 2 team winning 16-3.
Bolen pitched the inning beginning with a walk to the first hitter but the runner was picked off in a pickle play by third baseman Studer and short-stop Evert.  Bolen walked the next two batters but struck out the third for the second out.  First baseman Schrag ended the inning when he fielded a hit by the fifth batter for the third out.
The Gators got off to a great start with first batter Theis walking followed by a strong hit by Kaden Evert.  An error by the Conway Springs' team resulted in an in-the-park home run for Evert and two points for the Gators.  A single by Bolen and walks by Schrag and Cooper Gates followed by a single by Perez resulted in the six runs and an ending to the first inning.   
In the top of the second, Bolen allowed only one run in the bottom half of the inning before he struck out the next three pitchers.
The Gators kept it up in the second inning with their first three batters walking before a single by Evert.  Two more walks before the top half of the inning ended when the Gators had scored another six runs.   Perez took over pitching duties in the third inning with an out when Carson Lee fielded a single to Schrag at first base.   Perez finished the top half of the inning with two strike outs.
The bottom of the inning began with a walk from Gates followed by a triple by Perez.  Kolm and Evert brought in the other runs as a result of walks by the pitcher.  Conway Springs was unable to rally in the top of the fourth with two walks, and one hit resulting in one additional run before two strike outs by Perez and a play from Kolm to Schrag at first.
Gators 11, Caldwell 4
The Gators began the first inning with a walk by Theis, followed by a single by Evert.  Bolen had a hit that was fielded by the short stop for the first out.  Studer followed with a  single to left field.  Schrag and Kolm followed with walks, all scoring on walks and stolen bases.  Gates also walked but was stranded on third when the next two batters were struck out giving the Gators five runs in the first.
Caldwell started with a walk before pitcher Evert struck out the next batter.  The third batter hit a single advancing the runner home but the next batter was struck out for the second out.  One other runner was walked but left stranded when Evert delivered the next strike out leaving the score 5-1 after the first.
The top half of the second resulted in no runs for the Gators as Theis hit a line drive to the short stop for the first out.  Evert was next being thrown out at first after a hit and Lutz also was grounded out at first.
Evert again took the mound allowing only one walk before striking out the next three hitters resulting in no points for the Caldwell team.  Studer and Schrag both had singles in the top of the third but only Studer made it home before the Gators left three stranded on base due to strike outs.  Caldwell tried to rally earning three points before third baseman Bolen and first baseman Schrag threw two hitters out at first and Evert struck out a hitter for the third out.  Adam Lutz started the fourth inning for the Gators with a walk followed by Theis who took the base as a result of being hit by the pitcher.  Evert was next up but was fielded out at first for the first out.
The next two hitters walked before Schrag advanced the runners with a single that was fielded out at first for the second out.  Kolm walked next but was left stranded with the third out when the next hitter was struck out.
The Gators held Caldwell with one strike out and two plays from Bolen at third to Schrag at first.
In the fifth inning the Gators scored one when Reiner was hit by a pitch and advanced with a base hit by Evert putting the score beyond the Caldwell team.
Alva 9, Gators 2
The Gators finished play on Sunday morning with another loss to Alva, 9-2.  Theis walked and advanced on a hit by Evert that was fielded out at first.  Bolen walked and was advanced by Studer who also was fielded and resulted in the second out.  Schrag contributed a double advancing the runners and resulting in two runs before being stranded on third with the third out coming as a result of a strike out.
Evert again took the mound and held Alva to two runs walking the first batter and giving up a single before striking out the third batter.  The fourth batter received an out when Evert fielded the ball to Schrag at first.  Evert then struck out the next batter resulting in the third out. 
Alva then proceeded to hold the Gators scoreless for the next four innings despite hits by Theis, Bolen, Perez, Evert and Kolm.
Theis completed the pitching for the Gators for the last three innings.  The Gators' defense was strong striking out three and fielding out six hitters but ultimately couldn't come back from the Alva team's strong second inning.
"I am so proud of these kids.  We are a young team of 8 and 9 year olds playing against teams much older and more experienced.  These kids have worked hard and their hard work paid off," said coach Brian Schrag.
The Gators ended league play with a winning record of 7-6 and earned medals for taking second place in the Western Division of the league.
